This week, we are reviewing the Pulsar Plus by Wallbox! The Pulsar Plus is even smarter than its predecessor and is available with Power Boost (this is sold separately) intelligence. Power Boost balances charging and home energy use, maximising the power available to your vehicle. It also includes DC leakage protection to ensure your installation conforms with the latest safety standards.

Let’s get down to the brass tax. Here are its key features that you NEED to know about!

Compatibility: Compatible with all plug-in vehicles

Smart charging: Control your charging and analyse your data with the my Wallbox App

The Pulsar Plus connects via WiFi or Bluetooth for remote connectivity.

Fuse Protection: Fuse Protection (an extra £99) reduces power to the car if your home’s usage gets close to your fuse limit. Now drivers with low home fuse limits can still charge at full power most of the time.

Cable: The Pulsar Plus comes as a tethered charger only (with the cable attached) and is not made as an untethered charger. Make sure you get the right type of connector – your installer will be able to advise.

Speed: Available as a Fast (7kW) charger and is capable of lowering the power output if necessary (see Fuse Protection)

A 22-kW version is available for three phase homes (please note: most homes are single phase). Your installer (get in touch with us!) will be able to check if your home has three phase supply and can provide a quote.

Warranty :3-year product warranty as standard. 5-year warranty available for £159. Ask your installer for the upgrade.

Dimensions: Height: 16.6cm. Width: 16.3cm. Depth: 8.2cm.

The Big Question: Does the Wallbox Pulsar Plus offer smart charging?

No, the pulsar plus doesn’t offer smart charging so you can’t link it to something like the Octopus Agile tariff. This may change in the future!

Born in North West England, Jack kicked off his career in the insurance arena, dealing with claims for three years. Always up for a challenge, Jack leapt out of his comfort zone and embarked upon 5 years of excitement with the military.

Working for the Ministry of Defence, Jack specialised in counter-terrorism which took him to places such as Dubai, Oman, Iraq, Norway and Bahrain. During this period he worked with various Governments implementing strategic operations to prevent terrorism.

After travelling around various countries Jack increasingly came across various forms of solar from large solar farms to domestic solar panels. From here Jack took a keen interest in all things solar and started reading about the technological capabilities with a view to entering the industry after his career in the Ministry of Defence.

Once home after 5 fruitful years, Jack had 3 months leave in which he immersed himself in a solar crash course and got applying for jobs within the solar sector. He came across ESE Group, a long-established forward-thinking company whose head office was only a stone’s throw away from him. He picked up the phone to see if there were any vacancies and within a week had a successful interview and obtained a full-time job, starting in the technical team.

Within the first few months, Jack onboarded in various online courses during work and social hours to speed up his knowledge of all things solar. Due to his strong work ethic and thirst for knowledge Jack was promoted to Head of Technical at ESE Group. He currently leads the team and oversees the product development of new technologies within the company alongside assisting where necessary on their maintenance department.
