ESE Solar, one of the UK’s leading solar companies has recently celebrated 8 years in business and expanded its portfolio by acquiring two additional depots alongside a larger headquarters.

According to the Office of National Statistics, electricity prices in the UK had increased by 67 per cent in January 2023 compared to January 2022. This steep increase in energy bills have seen demand for solar rocket. The amount of solar installations across the UK in 2022 was double the previous year. As a result, ESE Solar have experienced unprecedented levels of enquires for solar panels and battery storage systems, leading to the acquisitions of new depots in Exeter and Durham to facilitate the growth in these regions. Back on their home turf in Liverpool, ESE Solar have also made a seven figure investment purchasing a new headquarters to accommodate their 50 strong head office team and create a state of the art training centre.

CEO Gary Fredson said “It’s an exciting time for ESE Solar as we continue with our plans to deliver solar and battery storage systems quickly to those that want to save on energy bills whilst help tackle climate change. I’ve repeatedly said over the years that solar is a sleeping giant and now its awoken demand will only increase. Solar has been so under-utilised if you look at the numbers, but this will quickly change.

To put solar into perspective, 173,000 of terawatts (TW) hit the earth at any given time, which is more than 10,000 times the worlds total energy use during the same period of time. Interestingly, the world’s population currently consumes roughly 23,900 terawatt hours (TWh) of power each year – most of which is generated by fossil fuels.

Solar Energy UK Chief Executive Chris Hewett said: “More and more consumers and businesses are investing in solar because they know it is a proven way to cut their energy bills and carbon emissions”. It is estimated that in 2020 almost 1 million had solar panels, a very low number considering there are an estimated 29 million homes in the UK. Globally the UK has the seventh largest solar capacity with China leading the way by some distance.

ESE Solar has amassed over 2,700 Trustpilot reviews and with a strong focus on customer service, top tier panels and quick turnaround times on installs they are well poised to dominate the solar market.

Born in North West England, Jack kicked off his career in the insurance arena, dealing with claims for three years. Always up for a challenge, Jack leapt out of his comfort zone and embarked upon 5 years of excitement with the military.

Working for the Ministry of Defence, Jack specialised in counter-terrorism which took him to places such as Dubai, Oman, Iraq, Norway and Bahrain. During this period he worked with various Governments implementing strategic operations to prevent terrorism.

After travelling around various countries Jack increasingly came across various forms of solar from large solar farms to domestic solar panels. From here Jack took a keen interest in all things solar and started reading about the technological capabilities with a view to entering the industry after his career in the Ministry of Defence.

Once home after 5 fruitful years, Jack had 3 months leave in which he immersed himself in a solar crash course and got applying for jobs within the solar sector. He came across ESE Solar, a long-established forward-thinking company whose head office was only a stone’s throw away from him. He picked up the phone to see if there were any vacancies and within a week had a successful interview and obtained a full-time job, starting in the technical team.

Within the first few months, Jack onboarded in various online courses during work and social hours to speed up his knowledge of all things solar. Due to his strong work ethic and thirst for knowledge Jack was promoted to Head of Technical at ESE Solar. He currently leads the team and oversees the product development of new technologies within the company alongside assisting where necessary on their maintenance department.
